26th of September Astana Marathon 2021 took place in the capital. This marathon is a charity event, all the funds raised will be used to purchase equipment for children with special needs. The current marathon in the distances of 42.2 km and 10 km also has a "bronze" status, which was awarded by the World Athletics organization in 2019.
It is gratifying that both young and older generations, people with special needs, and foreign citizens took part in the marathon.
Earlier, within the framework of the "Visit Nur-Sultan" Partnership Program, a cooperation agreement was signed with Astana Marathon Events, the purpose of which is the interaction of the parties on holding business and sports events. Today's race paved the way for similar events in the future.
"In a marathon, the main thing is not who will run to the finish line first, but who will enjoy the process itself! After all, running and regular sports have a positive effect on health, strengthens the immune system! Each participant is a winner, because thanks to his perseverance and training, he was able to overcome obstacles, " said the Mayor of the capital Altai Kulginov after his marathon race.
